Prenatal Visit Schedule
Prenatal visits follow a rhythm that changes as your pregnancy progresses. Here's a general overview of how the schedule works and what each stage focuses on.
Visits get more frequent nearer your due date
Each stage has its own focus
Monitors your health and baby's growth
Schedule is individualized to you
Prenatal care follows a familiar rhythm — visits start further apart and become more frequent as you approach your due date. The schedule is designed so you and your baby are checked at the right intervals through each stage of pregnancy.
How the schedule generally works
In a typical pregnancy, visits are roughly monthly in the earlier months, then every few weeks in the middle, and weekly toward the end. The exact rhythm depends on your individual pregnancy and your physician's recommendations.
What visits focus on
Each stage has its own focus — confirming things are progressing well, checking your health and baby's growth, arranging the recommended screenings and tests at the right times, and preparing for birth as you get closer. Every visit is also a chance to raise questions.
